QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING:
I have a Master’s in Clinical Psychology from St. Michael’s College and a Master’s in Health Education from Goddard College Institute for Social Ecology. I am certified at the Master’s level as a Tobacco Treatment Specialist through UMass Medical School and have helped hundreds of smokers quit tobacco since 2002. I hold mental health counselor licenses in Vermont and Massachusetts. I am a life long student and teacher of Concept-Therapy since 1976 & 1982 respectively. This philosophical perspective shapes my health practice, both personally and professionally.
I have experience providing behavioral health counseling and training in community mental health and outpatient clinics. I also provide corporate and community wellness counseling and training through an Employee & Family Assistance Program in a large hospital setting. It is fair to say that I am a seasoned clinician.
My areas of interest and training include personal fitness, nutrition, health psychology, mindfulness, yoga, stress, and change management. I enjoy the use of healthy humor to make the difficult process of change more uplifting and appealing. I am a massage therapist, trained and certified in Thai Yoga Bodywork, Level 2. I have practiced sports and deep tissue massage in chiropractic and fitness settings. I provide seated on site massage to various companies and events under the Discover Massage portion of my business as “The Chair Woman.”
I have designed the “school” and “institute” concepts described on this website based on a synthesis of my training and interest areas. My hope is to serve as a catalyst to helping people discover and explore the awareness that they can “Think Differently & Live Zestfully.” It is okay to have fun in life and health is the normal, natural state. These things are not found outside of oneself necessarily; we can go within to discover them and to cultivate these qualities all around us to share with others. So how about it…let’s get growing, a higher awareness of who we are and who we are capable of becoming…
In Consciousness,
Evy Smith, MA LCMHC
